The flagship event of Sydenham Institute of Management Studies, Research and Entrepreneurship Education (SIMSREE), SIMERATIONS 2010, took place on the 22nd and 23rd of October 2010 at Sydenham College, Churchgate. Attended by students of over 30 of the premier B-schools and other colleges in and around Mumbai, SIMERATIONS 2010 was a rollicking success, with an overwhelming number of people turning up and participating. The theme this year was ‘Wakeup-Warmup-Wassup’ with ‘Wakeup’ representing the management and literary events, ‘Warmup’ representing the sports events, and ‘Wassup’ representing the cultural events. The fest had an eclectic mix of all four types of events.
Day 1 started off with a bang, with the highlights being the Travelogue, box cricket, singing, dance and dumb charades events. Travelogue left the audience spellbound by the innovativeness of the contestants. Box cricket was a cracker-the presence of one girl in every team (which was a prerequisite to participation) certainly spiced things up and dispelled many illusions about the fairer sex. The singing event was a must-watch, with the organizers and some audience members breaking into an impromptu dance. Dumb charades was very entertaining and saw some teams dancing with joy while others were left moaning over the denseness of their partners. The dance event in the evening was a fitting end to an exciting day-concluding with an impromptu jam session where the audience and participants danced the night away.
Day 2 was even more exciting with a wider mix of events-Addiction, HRight Sense, football, tug-of-war, fashion show and personality contest. Addiction and HRight sense forced participants to exercise their grey cells as they battled for the coveted first prize. Football saw an overwhelming response-the event started early morning and concluded only in the evening. The table tennis, debate, entertainment and business quizzes also saw a similar response, with the events stretching throughout the day-starting early morning and ending only in the late evening. The high points of the day were the personality contest and fashion show events. The personality contest had really witty participants and the audience was left in splits after each witticism. This was followed by the fashion show and the audience was left gaping as the models strutted their stuff on the ramp. The grand finale to this two-day fest was the rock show which had the audience on their feet-yelling, clapping, dancing and screaming their heads off.
