SUMMERS 09
“With the measure of the dimensions of thought, no dream seems to be unrealistic and no panorama out of sight.”
This aptly sums up the standing of SIMSREE in tough times.
Quite contrary to recent trends, Summer Internship Placements for corporate projects at Sydenham Institute of Management Studies Research and Entrepreneurship Education (SIMSREE) were hugely successful. The institute effortlessly placed the batch of 120 students in the back-drop of a not-so-favorable economic situation.
The Summer Placement Process 2008-09 for the Class of 2010 of the Masters in Management Studies (MMS) and the PGDBM program was both phenomenal and path-breaking, with all students bagging exciting, never-before offered profiles in reputed companies. This year witnessed a major deviation from the previous years in terms of profiles and companies, although the highlight was the sheer diversity of the sectors, ranging from Banking, Consultancy, Technology, FMCG, Automotive, Health Care & Pharmaceuticals, Telecom, Media, Entertainment, Advertising, Energy, and Travel & Tourism. A number of students showed interest in exciting profiles offered by start-ups as well as PSUs, quite unlike the past.
The companies offered coveted profiles across verticals such as Treasury, Equity Research, Market Advisory, Investment banking, corporate consulting, Branding, Market Research, Business Development, and many more.
Companies participating in the process included Voltas, ICICI Bank, Novartis, Deloitte Consulting, KPMG, HPCL, BPCL, UBS, Deutsche Investor Services Private Ltd. (DISPL), Barclays Bank, Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), Colgate Palmolive, Wockhardt, L&T, HDFC, Suzlon Energy, JWT, Sanofi Aventis, Parle Agro, Amul, RBI, Darashaw Capital, Bank of Baroda (BOB), BOB Capital etc.
Sydenham also attracted participation for the first time from renowned firms and respectable startups, some of them coming exclusively to Sydenham such as Pagalguy.com, HT Media, Viacom 18, Skoda Auto, UTV, IDC India, Essel Group, Estee Lauder, Omnitech Solutions, Collins Stewart Inga, HCC, India Forex, Verge Consulting, Enarr Capital, India Games, KJMC Capital, Perfect Relations, Airtel Tele Media, K.R Choksey Securities, iFAST Financial Services and The Government of Maharastra.
Most of the students of 2010 batch preferred Marketing, followed by Finance, Operations, HR and Advisory roles. Of the 124 companies that took part in process, 50 companies were able to recruit and they together made 137 offers.
With this stellar performance, the institute is geared up for reaching new horizons in the years to come, and with the quality of students it boasts of, no goal seems impossible!!!
